The Red Sea resort area in the Red Sea region near the city of Al-Wajh in Saudi Arabia will begin to receive tourists in early 2023. This was announced by the marketing director of the project, Abdullah al-Zahrani, at the Arabian Travel Market exhibition in Dubai.
According to him, by this time a new airport will open especially for the guests of the region. This will allow travelers to relax not only on the coast, but also, if they wish, go on excursions to the historical places of the country.
The first stage of construction of the Red Sea is planned to be fully commissioned by 2024, which involves the commissioning of 16 resort areas with 3,000 hotel rooms. Another 5 thousand will be added within 6 years, and in 2030 the project will be fully completed.
In particular, by next year, tourists will be able to visit the Coral Bloom resort (“Coral Flower”) on Shurayra Island in the Red Sea, which will become the gateway and main hub for The Red Sea Project. On the archipelago resembling a dolphin, 11 luxury hotels of world chains with beaches and lagoons will be built.
Note that the construction of the Red Sea was announced back in 2017 by the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman. However, changes were eventually made to the final plan of the project: the scale of the resort was reduced from 34 to 29 thousand square meters. km, and the launch was postponed from 2022 to 2023.
