A list of the safest tourist destinations in the world has been published

The pandemic has seriously affected the choice of “safest countries to travel” – at least for American tourists. The fear of getting sick and “stuck” in the country for a significant part of the respondents was even stronger than the fear of terrorist attacks and natural disasters. In this “wave” in the ranking of the safest tourist destinations in the world, Asian countries have risen significantly – such as South Korea, Singapore, Thailand, Japan, China and Vietnam.

Such data are shown in the annual safety rating published by the insurance company Berkshire Hathaway Travel Protection. The findings are based on a survey of 1,500 American tourists. At the same time, some of America’s favorite tourist destinations in Europe and the Caribbean, namely Italy, the Bahamas, Spain, Jamaica and the United Kingdom, have lost ground in terms of perceived travel safety. When choosing tourists, they asked “about the perception of crime, terrorism, transport and health, as well as the safety of travelers who are women, people of color or LGBTQ representatives.”

The ten safest countries look like this:

  1. Canada
  2. Iceland
  3. Sweden
  4. Japan
  5. Ireland
  6. Switzerland
  7. South Korea
  8. Thailand
  9. New Zealand
  10. Australia

“Before the Covid-19 pandemic, terrorism and violent crime were major security concerns for travelers. But in the 2022 poll, travelers said they were most concerned about “being able to move freely” and staying “disease-free,” said Carol Mueller, vice president of Berkshire Hathaway Travel Protection.

As for the safest cities – their TOP-10 looks like this:

  1. Montreal
  2. Amsterdam
  3. Singapore
  4. Rome
  5. Tokyo
  6. Las Vegas
  7. Sydney
  8. London
  9. Paris
  10. Miami

At the same time, tourists were warned that, according to the latest data from the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control, France, Germany, Britain and Italy are still in the top five European countries that report a large number of euro diseases. African countries such as Morocco, Egypt and Tunisia are also dangerous, according to Europeans.
