A series of 13 earthquakes occurred in California (USA) in just 25 minutes. The magnitude of the most powerful of them was 4.8.
According to the US Geological Survey (USGS), the first tremors were recorded at 8:36 local time. Its source was located 3 km from the Californian city of El Centro, at a depth of 18.9 km.
This was followed by a series of 12 earthquakes of lesser magnitude.
There were no reports of casualties or damage.
