In Spain, due to the drought, a flooded village “surfaced”

In the Spanish province of Galicia, the village of Aceredo “surfaced” from the reservoir, flooded in 1992.

It is reported that the village appeared on the surface due to the drying up of the reservoir created 30 years ago and the Alto Lindoso dam. This was facilitated by a severe drought, as a result of which only 15% of the water remained in the reservoir.

Three decades ago, a decision was made to build a hydroelectric power plant and a dam on the Lima River, on the border between Spain and Portugal. As a result, five villages had to be flooded, including Aceredo, where a little over a hundred people lived at that time. People were paid compensation so that they could move.

Now tourists have flooded the new attraction, they are exploring the streets and dilapidated houses of Aceredo. At the same time, despite the long stay under water, many buildings are perfectly preserved.
