As the COVID 19 Delta variant begins to be felt around the world, some European countries have decided to impose new travel restrictions. The COVID 19 case is spread easily because it is much more contagious than previous versions.
New restrictions are coming in from Europe in Spain, Portugal and Germany.
Britons who have not been vaccinated must undergo mandatory quarantine within two weeks of arriving in Portugal. Moreover, any traveler entering Portugal by land, sea or air must provide proof of vaccination or isolation. Travelers should be vaccinated with both doses of approved vaccines.
Portugal introduced the rules after the country faced criticism from German Chancellor Angela Merkel for allowing tourists from the UK to enter the country earlier this month. This is due to the fact that the Delta variant is known to have been present in the UK. Portugal has stated that the Delta option is present domestically.
On the other hand, Spain has also introduced new travel restrictions for travelers from the UK. Travelers from the UK must now provide evidence of their vaccination. Negative PCR should be provided for those who have not been vaccinated.
Germany has also introduced new travel rules and restricted the entry of Russian and Portuguese travelers. The UK is also on the same list. Germany has announced that now only its citizens and residents can enter the country, but they must undergo mandatory quarantine for a period of 14 days.
