Russia imposes a temporary ban on rapeseed and sunflower exports from tomorrow (April 1). The ban will last until the end of August, according to the Ministry of Agriculture with reference to the DPA.
In addition, oil exports will be limited to 1.5 million tons from mid-April to late August. The goal is to guarantee supply to Russian customers amid increased demand and higher prices.
In Russia, many food items have risen significantly in recent times due to radical Western sanctions imposed after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Some supermarket chains have limited sales of basic foods such as sugar and buckwheat to a certain amount per person, according to the DPA.
