On Sunday, Russia announced 25,142 new cases of Covid infection, the highest since early January as the country struggles with a growing strain of Delta.
This week, Russia reported a record number of deaths from the coronavirus for five consecutive days, registering 697 deaths from Covid-19 on Saturday. On Sunday, an official estimate showed that 663 people had died from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours.
