“Those who can be called traitors are disappearing from the life of Russian society against the background of what is happening.” This opinion was expressed on Thursday by a spokesman for Russian President Dmitry Peskov, quoted by TARS.
Commenting on President Vladimir Putin’s words at a meeting Wednesday on the natural self-purification of Russian society, Peskov said that “many people show themselves to be traitors to Russia.”
“In such difficult times and in such responsible situations, emotional and very sublime situations, just a lot of people show their essence,” Peskov said. They are disappearing from our lives. “Some are leaving their posts, some are leaving official life, some are leaving the country and going to another country. This is how cleansing takes place. Some people break the law and are punished by a court decision,” he concluded.
Asked to comment on reports of the letter Z being written on the doors of people opposing Russia’s special operation in Ukraine, Peskov expressed doubts that it was “a step towards cleansing”. “Now everyone is very emotional about what is happening. Many people want to support the president not only emotionally but also effectively. Most of them,” he said.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the collective West was trying to “bet on the so-called fifth column, on national traitors.”
At the same time, he added that any nation, especially Russia, “will always be able to distinguish true patriots from scum and traitors and simply spit them out like a fly that accidentally fell into the mouth.”
Putin was convinced that “such a natural and necessary self-cleansing of society will only strengthen the country.”
