Russia’s Committee on Government Bills has approved a text that changes the rules for leaving the country of debtors. It provides for the possibility of confiscating the passports of persons who for some reason were restricted from traveling abroad, reports TASS, quoted by BGNES.
Volodymyr Hruzdev, Chairman of the Board of the Bar Association, explained that according to the proposed legislation, passports of persons subject to travel restrictions due to non-compliance with court decisions are subject to confiscation.
Confiscated passports must be sent to the issuing authority.
This means that after fulfilling his obligations, the debtor can return his passport to the migration service, Gruzdev said.
Powers to revoke passports are transferred to the investigators of the law enforcement service.
