A U.S. helicopter was forced to land on a crowded boulevard in Charles de Gaulle Square in northern Bucharest on Thursday morning, July 15. There were no casualties and traffic in the area was stopped.
According to Digi24, the Black Hawk helicopter took part in group training for Aviation Day, which will take place on July 20.
At some point, the helicopter began to lose altitude and landed on Aviatorlor Boulevard. During the landing, he destroyed two street lamps, as a result of which two cars were damaged, reports G4media.ro.
Romanian police and the US military are investigating the incident
According to Digi24, a commission of experts will be formed at the level of the US Army to determine the cause of the helicopter crash.
The US Embassy in Bucharest also responded to the news. “The US embassy is aware of the incident, and we are closely following developments. According to information, no one was injured. We are working with our Romanian partners to resolve the situation and provide up-to-date information as it comes in, ”Agerpres said in a statement.
