On the 77th anniversary of the crime, an ecumenical prayer was held near the monument to the victims in Guta Penyatska, conducted by Metropolitan of Lviv Auxiliary Bishop Leon Maly. After the prayer, Minister Adam Kwiatkowski read a letter from the President of the Republic of Poland, Andrzej Duda: “(…) The only manifestation of the tragedy that took place seventy-seven years ago is the monument to the murdered residents of Huta Penyatska. Every year you come here to honor the victims of the crime committed here and to pray for Their souls. It testifies to your living and faithful memory. This is a manifestation of patriotic service. You are devoted and steadfast in this service, because even now, in the conditions of a severe pandemic, you take part in ceremonies (…) ”.
Speeches were made by Vice-Marshal of the Seimas Malgozhata Gosievska, Chairman of the Guta Penyatska Society Malgozhata Gosniovska-Kola, Deputy Governor of Lviv Region Andriy Khodyk and Deputy Chairman of Lviv Regional Council Yevhen Hirnyk. In addition, wreaths were laid at the monument by Ambassador Bartosz Cichotski with the Consul General of the Republic of Poland in Lviv Eliza Dzwonkiewicz and the military attache Captain First Rank Maciej Nalencz, State Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office Jan Dziedzicak, Vice President of the Institute of National Remembrance Krzysztof Schwagzyk with director Anna Shelong and director of the Military History Bureau Slavomir Centskewicz.
