The Georgian side is negotiating to attract Ukrainian and Belarusian airlines to Kutaisi International Airport, said Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Mariam Kvrishishvili.
The official reported on her online meetings with representatives of the Ukrainian low-cost carrier SkyUp Airlines, Ukraine International Airlines (UIA), as well as the Belarusian airline Belavia.
“We had very positive talks with the airlines of Ukraine and Belarus. The main attention was paid to the fact that these airlines began to operate regular flights to Kutaisi International Airport. The renovated Kutaisi airport gives us more opportunities to receive tourists both in Imereti and in other regions of Georgia” Kvrishishvili said.
According to her, negotiations will also begin with airlines of other countries so that they can start flights to and from Kutaisi.
Kvrivishvili also believes that “Georgia has a very good trend of resuming aviation and tourism.”
