Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said on Friday that the withdrawal of Russian troops from the border with Ukraine could ease tensions, but that the move alone will not stop the escalation or conflict in eastern Donbass.
In his statement, Kuleba also called on Ukraine’s Western partners to continue to monitor the situation closely and take effective measures to deter Russia.
Russia announced on Thursday that it was ordering troops to return to base from an area near the border with Ukraine, apparently halting the build-up of tens of thousands of troops, alarming the West.
