The General Prosecutor’s Office of Ukraine has launched an investigation into the introduction of the Russian ruble into circulation in the occupied territories of the country.
According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, facts of illegal circulation of the Russian ruble have been revealed in the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions of Ukraine.
“Employees of the Central Bank of Russia are introducing the forcible use of the Russian currency in territories temporarily not under the control of Ukraine,” the statement said.
Ukraine’s Prosecutor General’s Office says that, according to the country’s constitution, the only legal currency in circulation is the Ukrainian hryvnia.
In connection with the facts of illegal circulation of the ruble on the territory of Ukraine, an investigation has been launched.
