– Recently, a new word “macronize” has appeared in Ukraine, which means the lack of action in a difficult situation, writes Le Parisien on Wednesday.
Ukrainians pity France for not doing enough in the face of Russian aggression against Ukraine and French President Emmanuel Macron for not coming to Kyiv yet, the paper adds.
“Horrified by the war, Ukrainians have come up with new words to describe the reality in which they find themselves after February 24, that is, after the Russian invasion of their country began,” explains Le Parisien, emphasizing that “macronation” means “greatly worried about some situation, but doing nothing.”
Numerous conversations – to no avail
This verb has gained popularity in the Telegram communicator, and Ukrainians joke about the photo shoot of President Emmanuel Macron at the Elysee Palace, when he called himself (President of Ukraine) Volodymyr Zelensky.
Le Parisien also recalls that in recent weeks, Macron has held numerous talks with Vladimir Putin, of which, however, “there are no tangible results, like his meeting in Moscow with the head of the Russian state two weeks before the invasion of Ukraine.”
“Maintaining a dialogue irritates some Ukrainians,” the newspaper notes. – You won’t help us! I hate Macron,” says one of the Ukrainian workers in France, whom she quotes.
