Food ends: Russia lifts restrictions on imports of some agricultural products from Turkey

Russia has lifted restrictions on imports of certain agricultural products from Turkey, according to BTA, citing a statement by Russia’s consumer protection service Rospotrebnadzor.

In particular, restrictions on the import of peppers, pomegranates, grapes, oranges and grapefruits from Turkey were lifted.

Earlier it was reported that the quota for the supply of tomatoes from Turkey to Russia was increased to 350 thousand tons, reports TARS with reference to the decision of the Ministry of Agriculture.

From the beginning of 2016 to November 2017, the supply of Turkish tomatoes to Russia was banned. In March 2018, a quota on imports of up to 50,000 tons of tomatoes from Turkey was introduced. After that, the quota gradually increased. In May 2021, the quota for the supply of Turkish tomatoes to Russia was increased from 250 thousand tons to 300 thousand tons. In February 2022, the Ministry of Agriculture proposed to increase the quota to 350 thousand tons, reminds TARS.
