The test train was launched on the reconstructed track in Chernobyl. It will transport spent nuclear fuel from three nuclear power plants – Rivne, Khmelnytsky and Yuzhnoukrainsk nuclear power plants – to the exclusion zone.
After delivery to the centralized storage, the fuel will be buried there for 100 years. The launch of the train became possible after the reconstruction of more than 24.56 km of tracks. All work was performed in accordance with the rules of radiation safety in the exclusion zone.
