Restrictive measures reintroduced in the Netherlands a month ago amid the spread of new coronavirus variants are showing results. Over the past week, the number of positive tests for COVID-19 in the country has decreased by 44 percent.
In seven days, just over 21 thousand cases of infection were registered, while last week there were more than 37 thousand.
The UK is also seeing a decline in new infections, down 33% from 25 to 31 July from the previous week. Meanwhile, the Scottish authorities announced the lifting of a number of restrictions related to the coronavirus on August 9. However, masking in shops and public transport will remain mandatory.
In Italy, despite a recent cyberattack in the Lazio metropolitan area on a coronavirus vaccination registration site, authorities have assured that it will continue. At the same time, the procedures are slowed down due to the fact that some of the operations for the registration of patients have to be carried out manually. By now, in Italy, 60 percent of residents are already fully vaccinated.
And in Romania, meanwhile, according to doctors, the fourth wave of the coronavirus pandemic began. On Monday, 230 new cases were reported, most of them in Bucharest and Timis district. This is the highest number of infections recorded per day in the last two months. Most of those infected are people who have not been vaccinated against coronavirus.
