Slovakia received the first components of the US Patriot air defense system. They were delivered by NATO allies, the country’s defense minister said.
The system will be operated by German and Dutch forces and will be located in Central Slovakia to help reinforce the defenses of the Alliance’s eastern flank.
Last week it became clear that the country is ready to respond to Ukraine’s calls for the Soviet S-300 air defense system. He said it could happen if Bratislava got a suitable replacement. However, the Patriot will only be an addition and will not replace the S-300.
