We will not start a war, but even the slightest attack on one of NATO’s allies will provide the necessary response. This was stated in the context of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine by Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu, whose words are quoted by the Hurriyet newspaper.
The minister touched upon the topic of the war in Ukraine, including to journalists who returned from a tour of Latin America.
Cavusoglu said the Brazilian president had said he was ready, if Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan found it useful, to pay a joint visit to Moscow with the leaders of some important countries.
According to the minister, President Erdogan’s only goal is to end the war and unite the two leaders of the conflict. “We sincerely continue our efforts,” Cavusoglu said.
According to a high-ranking Turkish diplomat, “everyone sees that there are those who do not want an end to the war.”
According to him, NATO’s position is clear.
“We will not go to war, but if there is the slightest attack on one of the allies, we will give the necessary response,” he said.
