According to local prosecutors, a car accident in the Mexican state of Chiapas killed at least 49 people and injured 40 others, including 3 seriously. They were migrants trying to enter the United States.
According to information provided by local authorities, the truck driver lost control during acceleration and as a result hit a retaining wall and then rolled over.
Chiapas is a state bordering Guatemala and is one of the largest trans-shipment points in the United States for undocumented migrants. The origin of the victims is not yet known.
