In Madrid, a sanitary alert was introduced due to the discovery of monkeypox in eight people.

It is noted that the disease is transmitted through direct physical contact and airborne droplets. The infection spreads in Africa, where it mainly affects children. The incubation period is 5 – 21 days. Symptoms include high body temperature, back and muscle pain, chills, and fatigue. The mortality rate ranges from 4 to 22%.

Spain has become the third European country, after the UK and Portugal, where cases of human infection with monkeypox have been identified.
