Hollywood actor Sean Penn called for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to speak during today’s Oscars ceremony. Penn stated this in an exclusive interview with the American media. This desire was previously expressed by the head of state of Ukraine.
“If the Academy decided not to release it, if the hosts decided not to release it, as the government of Ukraine is exposed to bullets and bombs…, along with the Ukrainian children they are trying to protect, then I think that each of these people and each part of this decision will most embarrassing moment in Hollywood history.
If that happens, I urge all involved to know that even now, when they think it’s their turn to pay tribute to their films, it’s more important to boycott the Oscars.
And I myself, if this decision is reached, upon my return, I will publicly melt my Oscar,” the actor said.
Sean Penn is in Warsaw filming a new documentary about Russia’s war in Ukraine.
