Prosecutors are considering charges of a fatal incident in which actor Alec Baldwin shot cameraman Halina Hutchins and wounded director Joel Souz during the filming of the western “Rust”, according to Maylonline.
According to the Associated Press, at today’s press conference, investigators presented to the public the results of the investigation. Investigators found a bullet from which Hutchins and Souza were shot. Two more weapons were removed from the set.
Santa Fe Sheriff Adan Mendoza said it was too early to comment on whether charges would be filed. He noted that about 500 rounds of ammunition were found at the scene. Investigators are also investigating reports of other shootings. District Attorney Mary Carmack-Oltoys said investigators could not yet say whether the incident was caused by negligence by whom and at what time.
According to court documents, assistant director Dave Halls took one of the three pistols prepared for filming and handed it to Baldwin with the assurance that it was not loaded with real ammunition. However, it turned out that the weapon was loaded.
Prosecutor Mary Carmack-Altoys also told the Associated Press, before the press conference, that the investigation is still at an early stage, far from a final decision on the charges. However, they are not excluded.
In response to a question, the prosecutor said that charges were not ruled out even for Alec Baldwin.
