Ten people have been confirmed dead after a cruise ship went missing off the coast of northern Japan, Reuters reported.
The boat disappeared while swimming in the waters near the Kashuni Falls, a popular tourist destination, the Kyodo news agency reported.
After the ship encountered large waves, its crew signaled for help to the Coast Guard, reporting that the ship was filling with water.
Having lost contact with the crew, the Coast Guard launched a rescue operation involving a helicopter and several ships.
