Italy’s state railways have announced the resumption of the Rome-Milan tourist train. They plan to launch traffic on tourist routes from April. At the same time, passengers are promised that the trains will be Covid-free.
“We will present the Covid-free train in early April, first between Rome and Milan,” said Gianfranco Battisti, CEO of Italian Railways. According to him, this initiative is a way to revive travel after more than a year of restrictions due to coronavirus infection. In addition, the company’s task is to launch trains for other tourist destinations – such as Venice, Florence and Naples.
In addition, he said that all workers and passengers will be tested for coronavirus infection before landing “with the help of the Red Cross.” Other Covid-free measures for the train are not specified.
So far, only local travelers will be able to travel by train. Access to Italy is still closed for foreign tourists.
