Israel’s Ministry of Health is quarantining travelers arriving from the United Arab Emirates. It is clarified that the UAE was included in the list of countries with a high incidence of COVID-19.
In this regard, Israelis returning home will be placed in self-isolation for two weeks or 10 days (with two negative results of PCR tests for coronavirus). The new rules will come into force on July 16, 2021.
In March 2021, the governments of the United Arab Emirates and Israel began formal negotiations to create a “green corridor” for travelers between the two countries.
The corridor can be created for passengers fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and will facilitate travel for commercial, tourist and official purposes.
We are talking about the mutual recognition of “green” passports – vaccination certificates – and will allow their holders to visit both countries, avoiding quarantine on arrival.
It should be noted that Israel and the UAE are world leaders in terms of vaccination rates and the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. Leaders in both countries believe that strengthening global health security is a collective responsibility.
One of the main reasons for the delay in mutual recognition of green passports is the various vaccines used in Israel and the UAE. It is worth noting that while negotiations are underway, the UAE has already opened green corridors with other countries such as Greece, Serbia and the Seychelles.
