As reported by Business Turkey Today, all hotels in Turkey received a letter from the Ministry of Finance with an order to stop currency exchange. The reason for this decision is that many hotels have turned into mass “exchangers”.
According to the same source, representatives of the hotel industry are outraged by this decision: they consider currency exchange beneficial for themselves and convenient for tourists. Now top hoteliers are negotiating with officials from the ministry and hope that the order can be canceled.
“There is indeed such information, but we will wait and see whether this ban can be implemented,” commented Sami Yilmaz, head of sales and marketing at Crystal Hotels. Representatives of Nirvana Hotels said that they have not yet heard about the order, the hotels of the network continue to change the currency at the internal rate. Only 500 euro banknotes are not accepted, as they are often counterfeited. Other interviewed hoteliers are also not aware of the upcoming changes.
