The Turkish Ministry of Finance issued an official communique on the protection of the Turkish currency, which banned the tourist industry from engaging in unauthorized buying and selling of dollars. This was reported on May 26 by the portal turizmguncel.com.
Hoteliers were warned that in case of violation of this ban, the department will suspend the operation of facilities for up to 6 months. And in case of repeated violation – for a longer period The ministry noted that some tourist sites began to earn on this, making serious competition to banks and official exchange offices.
According to the Turkish publication Dunya, citing the Ministry of Finance, the number of such cases has recently increased, and it was also found that hotel websites began to present this as one of the hotel services.
According to experts, such restrictions create difficulties directly for the tourists themselves in case of check-in at a hotel located at a distance from large settlements. As a result, currency exchange will still be carried out, but on less favorable terms for tourists due to risks.
