The Egyptian authorities have raised the minimum prices for hotel accommodation from May 1, 2022.
The Egyptian government has approved a proposal from the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities to establish a new minimum price for hotel accommodation from May next year.
So, the cost of living for one tourist in 5 * hotels should not be less than $ 50. In 4 * hotels, a room cannot cost less than $ 40, in 3 * hotels – less than $ 30, in 2 * hotels – $ 20 and 1 * – $ 10 per day per person.
The innovation will spread throughout the country, except for the provinces of Luxor, Aswan and New Valley, the cities of Taba and Nuweiba – in these regions it will come into force later: from November 1, 2022.
Tour operators believe that this decision by the Egyptian authorities is formal, since hotel prices depend on a combination of market factors – contracting, seasonality, occupancy and the policies of competitors, including Turkish hoteliers.
