Authorities in northern Germany have called for the revaccination of thousands of residents from COVID-19 after police investigations revealed that a Red Cross nurse could have given them saline instead of the vaccine, according to Reuters.
It probably happened at a vaccination center in Freisland in the North Sea.
“I am shocked by this incident,” said Sven Ambrose, a member of the local council, when he called for re-vaccination of about 8,600 people who may have been injured.
The saline solution is harmless, but most people vaccinated in March and April – when it is thought to have happened – are elderly people at risk of potential infection.
The nurse’s motives are unclear, but she has expressed skepticism about vaccines on social media.
