According to the German Taxpayers’ Association, German Chancellor Angela Merkel will receive a monthly pension of almost 15,000 euros ($ 18,000) after her retirement.
Merkel, 67, will resign after the September parliamentary elections.
The calculations are based on her long tenure in the Bundestag, as well as on the years during which she was federal minister and chancellor.
Like all former German presidents and chancellors, Merkel will have the right to take office after leaving office. She will also receive funds for an office manager, two assistants, a printer and a personal driver, according to DPA.
