The opening ceremony of the 23rd Tbilisi International Book Exhibition took place in the Georgian capital.
The opening ceremony, held at the Expo Georgia exhibition center, was attended by the Turkish Ambassador to Tbilisi Fatma Jeren Yazgan, Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth of Georgia Tea Tsulukiani, Vice President of the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO) Israfil Kuralai, ITO board member Munir Ustun, representatives of the municipality Tbilisi and other invitees.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth of Georgia Tsulukiani thanked the organizers and partners of the exhibition for holding the event, which took place despite all the difficulties associated with the coronavirus pandemic.
According to her, Turkey will be the guest of honor of the exhibition in 2022.
“We were very pleased that the distinguished guests from Turkey, our largest partner, were present at the opening ceremony of the exhibition,” the Georgian minister said.
In turn, Turkish Ambassador to Tbilisi Yazgan said she was proud and happy that Turkey will become an honorary guest of the exhibition next year.
“Through such exhibitions, people around the world learn about each other’s cultural values. People should read books today, Yazgan said.
The exhibition will run until June 27.
