Despite the sanctions, the demand for tourist trips from the Russian Federation to Europe has grown. Such data was presented by “Rosderzhstrakh” – according to the insurer’s report, the demand for policies for travelers to the countries of the Schengen Agreement increased by 7% this summer. Judging by his data, Russian tourists, as before, somehow make their way to Italy and Spain. And Estonia was among the leaders.
“If in June-July of last year the share of the EU in the total number of online insurance contracts of those going abroad (VZR) was 18%, then in the two summer months of this year it increased to 25%. In many ways, this is because European countries have lifted coronavirus restrictions, opened their borders and remained more or less accessible to Russian tourists,” the insurer’s experts commented.
At the same time, according to the statistics of “Rosderzhstrakh”, this summer the most popular country in the Schengen zone among Russian tourists was Estonia, where 12% of travelers who bought policies are going. At the same time, Spain and Italy took second and third place – 11% and 9%, respectively.
