The Egyptian embassy in Italy announced that two smuggled Greco-Roman artifacts had been seized in the Genoa region of Italy.
The first selected piece is the upper part of the woman’s statue, and the second is a small ceramic vessel. Both date back to the historical Greco-Roman era of Egypt, which immediately followed the ancient Egyptian period.
“The return of the artifacts is part of Egypt’s relentless efforts to restore its antiquities exported, and the great interest that the Egyptian state and its institutions place in preserving the country’s heritage and cultural history,” the Egyptian Foreign Ministry said.
