Egypt’s Ministry of Health has issued new rules for people arriving in the country vaccinated against Covid-19. In a statement issued Wednesday, the health ministry said that those arriving with vaccination certificates from countries affected by mutated coronavirus strains must undergo a new set of procedures when entering Egypt.
The new procedures are as follows:
– Passengers who were in India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Bhutan, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Brazil or Latin America 14 days before arrival in Egypt, will be checked vaccination certificates.
– Certificates must be issued by approved laboratories in their countries of origin and must not be altered in any way. Valid certificates must also have a QR code to verify.
– Passengers who have visited countries affected by mutant strains of the virus must undergo a rapid PCR test upon arrival in Egypt. If they test positive for Covid-19, they will be transferred to a medical facility as a precaution.
– All other passengers arriving in Egypt from countries not affected by mutant strains will still need to present an unaltered vaccination certificate with a QR code issued by an approved laboratory. Egypt allows vaccinated travelers who have received a second dose of vaccination at least 14 days before the trip.
– All travelers who do not have a vaccination certificate must provide a negative PCR result upon arrival.
Egypt accepts all vaccines approved by the World Health Organization and the Egyptian Medicines Agency.
Approved vaccines include Pfizer, AstraZeneca, Moderna, Sinopharm, Sinovac and Sputnik.
Passengers should receive the second dose of the vaccine 14 days before arrival in Egypt or 14 days after the first dose of the Johnson & Johnson single vaccine.
