The price of natural gas in Europe at the opening of auctions increased by 21 percent and exceeded $1,350 per 1,000 cubic meters amid news of the suspension of gas supplies to Poland and Bulgaria, according to data from the London Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), TASS quotes.
The cost of May futures at the TTF gas distribution center in the Netherlands rose to $1,374 per 1,000 cubic meters, or EUR 7,125 per MWh. Then the gas price dropped to $1,250.
Earlier, Gazprom announced that it had completely suspended gas supplies to the Bulgarian company Bulgargaz and the Polish PGNiG, as they did not pay in rubles on time.
However, Gazprom said that it continues to supply gas to Europe through Ukraine in accordance with customer requests.
