The curfew for tourists has been extended in the Dominican Republic

The Dominican Republic has announced the extension of the curfew for May 2021.

The Dominican Republic extended the curfew until May 16, 2021. The relevant Decree 31231-21 was signed by Dominican President Luis Abinader.

The curfew schedule remains the same:

  • All gas stations, establishments and institutions must be closed on weekdays until 21:00. But you can move around the country until 00:00. After 12 at night and until 05:00 am residents and guests of the country are asked not to leave their homes, villas or hotels.
  • All establishments and institutions must be closed by 7 pm on weekends. But you can move around the country until 22:00. After 22:00 and until 05:00 in the morning, residents and guests of the country are asked not to leave their homes, villas or hotels.
  • Before the curfew everyone works: tours, attractions, yacht rental, cars, bars, cafes, restaurants and much more

The President of the Dominican Republic notes that due to curfews and measures of social distancing in the country “the spread of the disease is controlled, so there is a need to continue these measures, while ensuring a gradual and safe recovery of economic activity.”
