WHO convenes emergency meetings due to the monkeypox outbreak in several countries

In two other countries, Australia and Canada, the first cases of monkeypox infection were detected. This was stated by the Australian Ministry of Health and the Canadian government.

The infection was contracted by tourists who returned to Australia and Canada from overseas trips. So, in the Australian province of New South Wales, a 40-year-old man who returned from Europe fell ill. In Canada, in the province of Quebec, two cases have been confirmed, and one of the cases is a US citizen who arrived in the country.

Previously, the first cases of infection with monkeypox were recorded in the UK, Italy, Sweden, Spain, Portugal, Belgium, and France. In Madrid, a sanitary alert was introduced due to the discovery of monkeypox in eight people.

According to The Telegraph, today the World Health Organization (WHO) decided to convene an emergency meeting regarding the outbreak of monkeypox in several countries.
