A magnitude 5.7 earthquake shook Afghanistan today, Reuters reported, citing the Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Center.
The quake struck at a great depth – 209 kilometers below the earth’s surface, with its epicenter in the Hindu Kush mountains in the northern part of the country.
The center, based in Paris, initially reported a previous magnitude of 6.8, but later lowered the magnitude of the quake.
There are no data on casualties and material damage yet.
